Spray it UP

2014

We wanted to expose the community to live Street Art, while offering creative activities. We also wanted to receive feedback on what type of art that the community needs. We commissioned street artist Percy14 and Deme5 to paint the truck live. Through video interviews we asked community members “What is community art?” and “What type of arts do you want in Uphams”

Paint it UP

2014

We wanted to connect with the community through visual expression. We wanted to have residents give their feedback in a visual way. We also wanted to expose the community to live painting. On the corner of Dudley and Columbia Road in Uphams Corner we hung a 6ft x 5ft canvas from the side of the UP Truck and invited residents to become artist for the day. We also commissioned a local artist Stephen Hamilton to paint a canvas live. Normally you would see an artist painting live in areas like Cambridge and Boylson Street. We wanted Uphams Corner residents to have this kind of exposure.
